PET

The Tutorial Education Program (Programa de Educação Tutorial – PET) provides favorable conditions for the development of intensive academic activities alongside selected groups of students that demonstrate potential, interest and outstanding skills. The program develops new pedagogical practices through active participation of scholarship holders, approximating students and professors at the institution, hence promoting the unification of the three dimensions that characterize the basic functions of the university: Education, Research and Outreach. PET’s scholarship holders receive a
monthly scholarship from the Higher Education Secretariat (Secretaria de Educação Superior) of the Ministry of Education (Ministério da Educação) during the period of affiliation to the program.

PIBID

The Institutional Program of Teaching Initiation Scolarships (Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação à Docência - PIBID), established by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - Capes), enhances and improves the teacher training for primary education. At the State University of Maringá (Universidade Estadual de Maringá - UEM), PIBID has existed since 2010, with participants from Arts, Biology, Physical Education, Philosophy, English, Portuguese, Mathematics, Pedagogy, Chemistry and Sociology. The program awakes the engagement and interest in teaching among freshmen and sophomores of undergraduate courses. The subprojects promote their inclusion in public schools, for them to develop teaching activities, under the guidance of a UEM’s professor, and also a school teacher.

INTERNSHIP CENTER

The State University of Maringa offers internship opportunities through the Parana Internship Center, in the Parana Government Administration and Welfare Office.

The Internship Center aims to guide people about the main rules involved in the internship, as well as the rights and responsibilities of the interns, the assignments and obligations of the supervisors.

The paid and unpaid internship positions are available at www.centraldeestagio.pr.gov.br.

The internship offers an opportunity to develop professional abilities related to the student’s undergraduate course.  It is a supervised educational act, developed in the work environment and that aspires to prepare the students that attend regular higher education to enter professional settings.
