The Economic Sciences Graduate Program (Programa de Pós Graduação em Ciências Econômicas – PCE) started its activities with the Master’s Program in 1994, and implemented the Doctoral Program in 2010. The Program aims to train Masters and Doctors emphasizing theoretical and analytical education. It enables the students to become teachers or to develop academic research, as well as to work as professionals in the public and private sectors of the economy. The main purpose of the program is to promote innovation. It also features a postdoctoral grantee, who interacts with the program’s students and professors. The Program has received score 4 in the evaluation of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES). The PCE academic staff has a vast diversity of academic education, as well as research partnerships - such as agreements with Brazilian and foreign universities. These features help the graduate students to consolidate their specialization, which enlarges the role of scientific knowledge in the making of social and economic policies, improving our national community welfare.
