The objective of the Graduate Program in Food Sciences (Pós-Graduação em Ciência de Alimentos - PPC) is the education of qualified human resources (masters and doctors) to act in higher education, in research institutions and industries, promoting the advancement of scientific and technological knowledge in the food area. It is designed for recently graduated students, researchers and lecturers, graduated in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Food Technology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Agronomy, Animal Sciences, Biological Sciences, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine and Biomedicine. Students from other areas and other professionals may be eligible upon committee decision committee. The researches developed by the program focus on multidisciplinary themes, aiming to obtain a deep knowledge about food and the alterations it suffers during industrial processing, the relationship between food and health and the matter of food quality in a more ample sense. The PCC teaching staff consists of 20 PhD professors that act in four different research lines, who are constantly updated in order to answer the growing national and international demand for highly qualified professionals. The program receives scholarships from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and from the State of Paraná Government (Araucária Foundation) and supports the academic mobility in sandwich-doctorate in foreign countries.
